Version 1.7.x is the last version to support these operating systems. Visit http://www.displaylink.com/mac to download this driver. E. Supported Mac platforms ========================== This software supports all Intel-based Macs. ***It does not support Power-PC based Macs.*** F. Language support =================== The DisplayLink software installer is only available in English. G. Supported Hardware ===================== - DL-41xx devices are supported. - DL-3x00 devices are supported. - DL-1x5 devices are supported. - DL-1x0 devices are supported. - Kensington sd400v Office Dock with auto install is not supported. H. Limitations ============== OS X audio limitations ---------------------- OS X versions earlier than 10.8.5 do not support audio in DL-3x00 and DL-41xx based devices on USB 3.0. For audio support, please use a USB 2.0 connection or upgrade to OSX 10.8.5 or later. OS X graphics limitations ------------------------- Mirror mode not kept after reboot/replug on OS X 10.8.5 and later. (16473) No 3D (OpenGL) acceleration - some features of Mac OS X applications that require hardware OpenGL acceleration, such as Keynote presentations, will have limited functionality. The internal screen is kept active while in clamshell mode on OSX systems with a single HD3000 graphics card. On Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) it's not possible to screen capture the content of DisplayLink screens. This issue has been fixed by Apple in OS X 10.7.0. Colour calibration does not work with DisplayLink enabled displays. Note: Applications that require Quartz\OpenGL\hardware acceleration support will likely exhibit problems. Some problems can be avoided by making sure the DisplayLink display is not set to be the main display (the display with the menu bar). If an application refuses to launch when a DisplayLink display is present, try to disconnect all the DisplayLink displays, then launch it and then reconnect the displays. OS X 10.9 Mavericks limitations ------------------------------- Some applications can show corruption and/or missing contents while updating windows contents. Examples are Maps, iBooks and the Dock. (16365, 15855, 15778) Some applications can show severe flickering on DisplayLink screens. Examples of applications that show this issue are Safari, QuickTime and the App store. (16107, 15777,Ê15764) Display arrangement is not kept when using 2 or more DisplayLink displays. (16112) All screens black and unusable after unplugging a DisplayLink screen. This is caused by Apple's Window server crashing. This can be recovered by replugging the DisplayLink device. (16155) On the Retina Macbook Pro, changing the layout to mirror logs the user out. Again this is caused by Apple's Window server crashing. (16207) Corruption and freeze of the DisplayLink screen after replacing the monitor on the HDMI connection. (16460) Misplaced or missing menu items on DisplayLink screens. Changing the resolution of the external screen can sometimes resolve the issue. (15753, 16480) On some systems fast user switching fails when DisplayLink screens are connected. (16153) Sometimes rotating one DisplayLink monitor rotates a different display. (16139) Sometimes when DisplayLink monitor is set as primary after waking up from sleep it is disconnected and there is no login screen visible. (16149) Corruption on the screen may be visible while rotating DisplayLink displays (16151) I. Common recovery steps ======================== Most of the issues can be resolved by replugging the DisplayLink device which exhibits the problem. In very rare cases, the recovery requires rebooting. J. Known Issues =============== Garageband audio input not available with DL-3x00 devices. (16325) Not all display modes are available for rotated DisplayLink screens. (13464) On Mac Books with Retina display internal screens may get corrupted if screens are in mirroring mode. A workaround is to switch to extend. (15168) HTML5 and Flash content in Safari may flicker. This is a known problem with recent Safari versions, raised with Apple. A workaround is to use a different browser. (14723) Changing the monitor connected to a DL-1x0/DL-1x5 DisplayLink device may require the device to be unplugged and replugged for the new monitor to be correctly recognised. Two DisplayLink monitors monitoring each other may sometimes cause corruption on main Mac's screen. (15633) Sometimes positions of displays are not kept after reboot. (16112, 16121) Desktop & Screensaver window is sometimes crashing when DisplayLink monitor is set as a primary display. (16122)
